Cupcake Invitations

This is my daughter Eva's first birthday! While blowing up some balloons at work I like how the green and pink went together so I started with that and added cupcakes. Here is an example of the invitations my sister and I made together. After looking at many different cupcake invitations online I used ideas from three different one and made my own.

First I sketched a cupcake on scratch paper that would fit on the size card I would be using. I used a grey and white poke a dot scrapbooking paper (12x12) and cut it in four.

Second, I cut out a muffin looking template that fit in my sketch then cut out a topping template that would fit on top of the muffin. The cupcake liner needs to be bigger than the bottom of the cupcake so it can be be a "pocket" for the cupcake to fit into. The cherry on top is a simple circle which we just traced around the top of a stick glue.

Now just glue the sides of the liner and bottom with a small amount of glue to the square invitation. Then glue the "frosting" top to the muffin top. I didn't put any glue on the bottom of the "icing" so that it could overlap the liner. I hand painted her name with a fine brush and black water color and wrote in the details on the cupcake which is later hidden under the liner.

It's a pretty easy invitation I hope you have as much fun with them as I did!
